Description:
Huge-growing shade tree which prefers rich, moist, soil but not standing water. Large leaves cast dense shade beneath. The most attractive part is the bark in winter - it can make a paper birch look bland! As the bark exfoliates in large plates each summer, an urban-camouflage motif becomes apparent - a mix of whites, greys, greens and tans. NATIVE.
