Description:
Leaves look more like those a chestnut rather than an oak - ovate with bluntly toothed margins. Thrives in the mountains where soil is rocky and poor. Leaves are dark green on top and chalky green on bottom due to a covering of fine hairs. Leaves feed caterpillars, acorns feed birds and mammals. Yellow-brown fall color. NATIVE.
